"Pourquoi 17" is the fifth album in the StarBast Chronicles, featuring 11 tracks and 4 bonus compositions, each built around the enigma of the number 17 and its mystical significance in a person's fate. The musical structure of the album is based on the philosophy of synchronicity and the mystique of choice, exploring the interplay of chance, decisions, and inevitability. Inspired by the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, this work offers a fresh perspective on the timeless theme of loss and the search for what has been lost.
The music blends elements of classic rock and retro experimentation, creating an atmosphere of contemplation about choice and consequence. These are not just melodies — they are an intellectual and emotional journey where each track uncovers symbols, questions, and philosophical nuances, leaving the listener in a state of tension, seeking answers. Embedded in each composition are ideas of synchronicity, where music and fate intertwine, as they do in real life.
For a first encounter with the album, we suggest starting with the touching track "It Doesn't Matter," whose acoustic guitars transport the listener to the past and evoke a warm sense of nostalgia. If you appreciate darker, more intense sounds, the track "Salvation" will immerse you in deep and reflective moods. The title song, "Why So," takes listeners back to a time when rock music made people think and reflect on life's important questions.
"Pourquoi 17" is not just a musical work, but also an intellectual puzzle, inviting the listener to enter a metaphorical labyrinth of numbers and symbols, where every decision leads to new discoveries. The album encourages reflection on chance, fate, and the role of music in our lives. Just like in Holger Schmidt's book of the same name, this album tells a story of chasing lost youth and attempting to restore what was lost through music that was written over 30 years ago, but now comes to life in a new light.
The album "Pourquoi 17" serves as a reminder that while time may change forms, the essence remains the same: the search for truth and harmony in both musical and life choices is an eternal theme for anyone striving to understand themselves and their place in the world.
